Help!

Dear Brothers and Sisters, FamilySearch sent me an email this past week, and I thought it might be a great subject to help us on our FamilySearch project.   The subject of the email was “Help”. As we research our ancestors we can run into roadblocks.   Our Savior, Jesus Christ, has told Joseph Smith that the things he was going through would “give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.”   The same applies to us.   All the frustrations, roadblocks and seemingly closed information doors will help us as we grow in our family history research.   The good news?   We have Help! The email I received lists several helps for us.   Brother May and I would like to add others that we have experienced as we have progressed on our family history trails. My great-great grandfather, Albert Henry Taylor, was born in 1829 in Bedford County, Virginia and married at age 30 in the same county. He was a Quaker.   I had not been able to find any record of parents for him and he is not listed

Start With You!

Dear Brothers and Sisters, We have to apologize that we did not post to the family history blog last week.   Time just got away from us.   However, we have an activity that your family can do this summer to continue on your family history path.   Did you know? v   Family history is one of the most popular hobbies in the United States? v   People want to know more about their family heritage v   Many individuals do not know where to begin This activity may help you begin and it comes from some suggestions given to us by Brother Cheatwood.   He received them while serving a mission and we thought you might enjoy them.      When I was in Young Women's (it was called MIA then), we had a program called Treasures of Truth.   We were given binders with pretty pink flowers on the covers and a set of dividers with the titles of: My Story, My Kin, My Hobbies, My Friends and Sacred to Me.   The idea was that we would keep a Book of Remembrance on our life and the things that me

Potpourri

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Have you heard the good news?   Our beloved Prophet, President Russel M. Nelson, has announced that the Temples in Utah are going to Phase 3.   I have heard from our Provo Temple that we may be open to Phase 3 by the end of June.   Are you ready with your names to take to the temple?   The dictionary states the definition of Potpourri is a mixture, medley or collection of things.   That is our blog post this week ~ a collection of miscellaneous tips and suggestions to help with your family history.   Let’s start with our FamilySearch account.   Log into your account and choose a page of one of your ancestors.   At the top of their page on the right side you will see three links:   View Tree, Follow and View My Relationship. Click on View Tree .   This will give you the tree for this family member putting them in the first position and showing their spouse, parents, grandparents, etc.   It could also show their children.   This helps when you are try
