Partner Programs ~ A Gift from the Family History Department
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As we research our family history, we can use all
the help we can get to locate records, information, photos, documents, etc. The Family History Department has partnered
with several programs to assist us in this task. These partner programs are free for us to
access with our Church membership number and FamilySearch login.
The partner programs available to us are:
v Ancestry.com
v Find
My Past
v My
Heritage
v Geneanet
v Filae
v AmericanAncestors
To set up your account with each of these programs, log
in to your FamilySearch Account. Click
on the Help button at the top right of the home page (the question mark
in the circle).
·
Click on the Help Center link in
the drop down box
·
Click on Search by Topic and scroll
down to the box that says “View All” and click on it
·
A number of circles will appear with
titles under them. Choose the “Family
Search Partners”
·
Scroll down to the bottom and on the
left in small letters is a link for the “Solutions Gallery”. Click on that link.
·
Click on Latter-Day Saints Access
·
A page will appear with several topics
and tiles for various programs in each topic.
Choose the topic you would like to add to assist you in your
research. For example, I chose Search.
·
When you have chosen the topic, click on
the More button and a new page will appear with several programs available
for that particular topic. For example:
in the Search topic there were 30 tiles.
·
Click on the tile of the program you want
to access
·
Click Get Started
A popup
window may tell you that you are leaving FamilySearch and going to their
website. Click OK
·
When the Terms page appears, read the terms
and if you agree to them, click Agree or Accept
·
Follow the rest of the screen directions
to create your account with the partner program.
You may have to enter your membership number to set
up the account as a free account for members of the church. You can find this number on your Temple
Recommend.
You can also find your membership number in the
Tools app on your cell phone or tablet in the Membership Information section
under your name. (If you cannot see this
link, update your app. It will appear
for you. Once you click on Show Record
Number, you will have to enter your password to view the membership number).
A member of the bishopric can also get this number
for you. They have access to them on their phones.
Several members have asked how to access Ancestry.com
for free. Another wonderful program is My
Heritage. You can find the tiles for
both of these programs … and many more … in the Search topic.
Brother May and I are very thankful for the gift of
these programs to aid us in our family history.
They are consistently adding new records that are invaluable in our
research and they save us a lot of money as we continue to link our eternal
family together.
Let us know if we can help you! Brother and Sister May
